our guest bedroom got carpeting!

The former owners had replaced the carpeting in every room of the house except for one bedroom. They even re-finished the basement, painted all the rooms, put in new doors, replaced the baseboards throughout the house, and installed all new closet doors.
So, why leave the awful orange shag?

There's really no way to describe the awfulness of this room. It's like a cross between carrots and baby puke. It's just.. awful.
And we can't figure out why they'd put so much time, effort and money into renovating the whole house and not that one room.
There's a store going out of business around here, so we figured we may as well go take a look. This Saturday is their last day in business, so they're liquidating everything at this point and we figured we may as well take a look and compare their prices to a big box store like Home Depot or Lowes. We went there tonight on a whim, not expecting much because liquidations are usually a rip off.
It turns out that even their clearance items were an additional 40% off.
We chose a remnant that was originally $400, marked down to $200, and got it for $98. Then we purchased padding for $30, and got a list of names of installers that will come and put it in for us. We're picking up the carpet tomorrow after work.
Seriously, you can't beat that.
The room is an average size, I guess. It's 10x12, so nothing to be excited about. We bought a remnant that's 12x14 so we'll have a few feet of carpet left to lay in front of the basement door. This is perfect, and we did this on purpose, so now we don't have to buy another piece of carpet or a rug to put there to wipe our feet when coming in from the garage.
I'm hoping to have this carpet installed as soon as possible, and then I can get the rest of my furniture from my parents house... and then our guest bedroom will finally have furniture in it, instead of being a catch all and holding all the boxes we're avoiding having to unpack!

my office.

So, this is my office.
I'm still trying to unpack (cut me some slack, we've lived here for a whopping seventeen days) and it's a bit cluttered, but this is what it looks like right now complete with my DIY keep calm art:
